The NSAS campaign further extended its impact by engaging parents of Ayer Amba Secondary School, recognizing that community-wide awareness is critical in combating stroke. Parents were educated on stroke risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, smoking, unhealthy diets, stress, and physical inactivity, while also learning how early recognition and immediate medical attention can save lives and reduce disability.
The project demonstrates how schools can become powerful centers for public health education. By educating students, teachers, parents, and school leaders together, the Ethiopia Stroke Foundation is helping build communities that are informed, prepared, and proactive in stroke prevention.
As the National School Stroke Awareness  continues to grow, the Ethiopia Stroke Foundation remains dedicated to expanding its outreach to more schools and communities across Ethiopia. Through awareness, education, collaboration, and prevention, the Foundation is working toward a future where fewer lives are lost to stroke and more people understand the importance of brain health and early action.
In addition to student awareness sessions, the Foundation also conducted dedicated awareness programs for school principals and administrative bodies within Bole Sub-City schools. These discussions focused on the importance of preventive health education, recognizing stroke symptoms early, and promoting healthier lifestyles among students and school communities.

Here are some memories when our foundation in collaboration with Ethiopia Stroke Initiative officiate the graduation of the first Ethiopian medical doctor trained in both Stroke & Vascular Neurology and Neuroendovascular Surgery, a pioneering physician dedicated to reducing the burden of stroke in our nation.

ESF also graduated its 3rd cohort of fellows in Stroke & Vascular Neurology, bringing the total number of stroke specialists in the country to 10.

This milestone was celebrated in the presence of leaders from partner institutions, the ESF Board, distinguished guests, stroke survivors, and the entire ESF family.

Specialized stroke training for healthcare professionals remains a core pillar of ESF’s mission, and this is only the beginning. Many more milestones are yet to come.
